Rangers are reportedly close to bringing Steven Gerrard – and Gary McAllister – to Ibrox.

According to the Daily Mail, Rangers are not only close to landing Steven Gerrard as their new manager, but will also bring in Gary McAllister as his assistant.
The Gers have been searching for a permanent manager since sacking Pedro Caixinha in October, and whilst Graeme Murty has worked admirably as interim boss, a new manager appears to be incoming.
Director of football Mark Allen has been leading the search for a new manager, and appears to have settled on the peculiar and shock choice of Steven Gerrard.
The 37-year-old is ‘close’ to signing a deal to become Rangers manager according to the Daily Mail, with his assistant seemingly already in the pipeline too.

It’s claimed that former Scotland international Gary McAllister is set to head to Ibrox to reunite with Gerrard, offering an experienced coach to work alongside the rookie manager.
McAllister and Gerrard played together at Liverpool between 2000 and 2002, and it’s no surprise to see Rangers target a man with experience as a coach and as a manager to help guide Gerrard through the job.
The reports caught the eye of former Liverpool and Scotland midfielder Don Hutchison, who took to Twitter to predict that a number of players will want to sign for Rangers this summer in order to work with both Gerrard and McAllister.
