According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Rangers are expected to follow up their initial approach for Greg Docherty by making a bid for Hamilton Academical midfielder within the next 48 hours.

The Gers have been busy during the early weeks of the transfer window, signing Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy on loan and getting ready to open talks with Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings about another temporary deal.

And it appears that they may be on the verge of stepping up their pursuit of their first permanent signing of the window. The Scottish Sun reports that the Light Blues made an approach for the 21-year-old towards the end of last week.

And now it appears that they may be ready to take their interest to the next level, with The Scottish Sun suggesting that the Gers are set to make a bid for the Accies youngster within 48 hours.

Acting quickly certainly appears to be a very smart move from Graeme Murty and the Rangers hierarchy. If they manage to make a bid that Hamilton accept, there is perhaps a chance that they may be able to get Docherty through the door before the Scottish Cup fixtures this weekend.

The starlet has shown that he could have a bright future ahead of him, so Rangers acting quickly may be a very wise decision given that it may not be a surprise if there were others club having a look at the midfielder and monitoring his situation.
