Rangers are reportedly set to consider Steve Clarke as a managerial target.
According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are certain to consider Kilmarnock boss Steve Clarke in their search for a new manager this summer.
The Gers sacked Pedro Caixinha back in October, but after failing with a move for Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes, they handed the reins to interim boss Graeme Murty until the end of the season.
Whilst Murty has largely impressed in charge of the Gers, it’s widely expected that he will be replaced this summer, and fans are already thinking about his potential successor.
Former Gers ace Frank de Boer has been mentioned by supporters, but The Scottish Sun report that Rangers will be strongly considering Kilmarnock boss Steve Clarke for the role.
Clarke, 54, was on the managerial scrapheap following a disappointing spell with Reading, and decided to make a return to Scotland with boyhood club Kilmarnock, taking a real gamble by working with a Scottish side working on a relatively small budget.
However, Clarke has been a revelation at Rugby Park, leading Killie to wins over Celtic and Rangers whilst driving them on to a top half finish, with Youssouf Mulumbu particularly starring under Clarke.
The former West Brom boss has Premier League experience and has excelled on a budget at Kilmarnock, and Rangers now appear to have been impressed with his work, putting him in contention to land the Ibrox job this summer.
