Rangers teenager Ross McCrorie has shone in Light Blue since breaking into the Ibrox first team.
The Daily Record claim Rangers teenager Ross McCrorie has suffered an ankle injury during the Light Blues’ mid-season trip to Florida, in what will be a huge blow to Gers boss Graeme Murty.
The 19-year-old has been one of the first names on the team sheet of late prior to the winter break, starring in a new role under Murty since the 43-year-old boss reverted to a midfield diamond.
It has since seen the Scotland youth international shine at the base of the midfield, earning him a new four-and-a-half-year deal at Ibrox along with his twin brother and goalkeeper Robby McCrorie.
The report claims that there were concerns the lofty midfielder had indeed broken his ankle which could have ruled him out for the entire 2017-18 season, but the Daily Record claim is not as serious as that.
Instead, they reckon McCrorie has chipped a bone in his ankle which would keep him sidelined for a handful of games but not be as extensive as a break to the ankle of Rangers’ number 40.
He joins Bruno Alves, Graham Dorrans and Kenny Miller on the Ibrox injury list, but the return of Andy Halliday and the loan signing of Sean Goss from QPR will surely soften the blow.
Murty is preparing his side to face Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians in Florida, before the Gers return to competitive Scottish football on January 21 in the Scottish Cup against minnows Fraserburgh.
