Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is reportedly hoping to persuade Martin Olsson into a move to Ibrox this summer.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (9/6; page 61), Steven Gerrard is hoping to persuade Martin Olsson to join Rangers this summer, but his task will not be easy with the left-back keen to earn a move to another Football League club in England.
Olsson is a free agent this summer after leaving Swansea City at the end of this past season. Swedish outlet Expressen recently suggested that the 31-year-old has his fair share of potential options, with the Gers joined by Nottingham Forest and Fenerbahce in the race to sign the defender.
And it appears that Forest have the advantage in the race. The Sun on Sunday (9/6; page 61) does not mention Martin O’Neill’s men, but does suggest that Olsson would like to stay in the Football League as Gerrard plans to try and persuade him into a move to Ibrox.
Despite Olsson not making an appearance for the Swans since December due to injury, it would have the potential to be a very good piece of business from Rangers to get the former Blackburn Rovers man in.

Left-back proved to be a fairly problematic position for the Gers this past season. Borna Barisic was outshone by right-back Jon Flanagan and midfielder Andy Halliday at times, and goes into his second campaign in the Scottish Premiership with plenty to prove.
Olsson’s arrival would certainly leave a major question mark hanging over Barisic’s Ibrox future. But it appears that Gerrard has plenty of work to do to convince the full-back into a move with his preference being to stay in England.
