Rangers are closing in on a deal to bring George Edmundson to Ibrox.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are nearing the double capture of defender George Edmundson and midfielder Joe Aribo.
The Gers have finally had a third bid of £650,000 (Daily Mail) accepted for Edmundson, and the Oldham Athletic talent has rejected a move to Portsmouth to try and force through his Ibrox move.
It’s claimed that the 21-year-old will now undergo a medical with Rangers on Thursday ahead of joining up with Steven Gerrard’s squad for their Portugal training camp.
Edmundson isn’t the only imminent arrival though, as it’s noted that a second round of talks have been staged with Charlton talent Aribo ahead of his move.
The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the month, and the Gers are teeing up a deal to bring him to Ibrox, though they’ll have to pay compensation.
Both players bolster Gerrard’s options in key areas. With loanee Joe Worrall back at Nottingham Forest, adding another young defender to develop is key, and Edmundson is the ideal player to fill that role.

Meanwhile, Rangers also need a little more creativity going forward, and the silky and skilful Aribo ticks the boxes, having hit 10 goals and five assists this past season.
The duo are expected to be at Rangers’ training camp in Portugal, bringing Gerrard’s summer influx to seven arrivals.
