Rangers are reportedly closing in on bringing defender Filip Helander to Ibrox.

According to Goal, defender Filip Helander has turned down Turkish duo Besiktas and Basaksehir in order to sign for Rangers – and STV believe his medical is imminent.
Helander, 26, has turned out for Malmo and Hellas Verona, but is current with Bologna in Serie A, where he started 19 league games last season.
The Swedish international ended up on the fringes of the side and is now set to move on, with a medical imminent ahead of a £4million move to Rangers.
Intriguingly though, it’s also claimed that Helander has rejected two clubs in order to sign for Rangers, turning down Turkish duo Besiktas and Basaksehir for a move to Ibrox.
Helander is understood to prefer a move to Scotland, meaning he’s rejected interest from the pair to join Steven Gerrard in what will be seen as a major coup for the Gers.
Helander has domestic, European and international experience, whilst he’s big and strong at 6ft 4in tall, as well as left-footed to bring some balance to Gerrard’s back line.

He ticks so many boxes for Rangers, and represents a major investment for the club, with the fee set to make him Gerrard’s most expensive signing at Ibrox.
Adding Helander into the centre back mix alongside Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic and new signing George Edmundson gives Rangers an incredibly strong rotation, and that’s ultimately what they need in order to chase down Celtic.
