Rangers midfielder Matt Crooks is reportedly keen on a loan move away from Ibrox.

According to the Daily Mail (Press Reader), Rangers midfielder Matt Crooks wants a loan move back to England during the January transfer window.

Crooks, 22, penned a pre-contract agreement with Rangers in January of this year, having starred with League Two side Accrington Stanley.

The 6ft 4in holding midfielder hit eight goals in 53 games for Accrington having joined from Huddersfield Town in 2015, and his performances attracted interest from Rangers.

Crooks followed former Accrington team-mate Josh Windass to Ibrox, but whilst Windass has impressed for Mark Warburton’s side, Crooks has so far struggled to make an impact.

Crooks has struggled with injuries so far, meaning he has played just three games for the Gers to date, and with the Birmingham Mail reporting that Rangers want to bring in Aston Villa midfielder Aaron Tshibola on loan, Crooks could be pushed down the pecking order.

Now, the Daily Mail (Press Reader) report that Crooks wants to make a loan move back to England in January, having become frustrated with life on the sidelines at Ibrox.

Crooks believes a loan move will help him in the long-term at Rangers, and we could now see the midfielder follow former Rangers team-mate Joey Barton in making a swift return to England.

Championship or League One clubs may have their eyes on loan deals for Crooks, given how impressive he was at Accrington last season, but manager Warburton have to give Crooks some long-term guarantees to keep him happy at Ibrox.
