According to La Razon, Rangers have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Racing Santander wonderkid Pablo Torre.

What’s the story?

Well, it was enough of a blow for Rangers to hear that Real Madrid are also interested in signing the 18-year-old.

However, La Razon have now revealed that Real Sociedad are in pole position to secure the Spaniard’s signature.

The Basque outfit’s reserve team play in the second tier of Spanish football, so Torre would have a good environment to develop his skills.

La Razon add that the teenager himself admires Real Sociedad’s portfolio policy, which should further aid his development.

In truth, Real Sociedad is a wonderful place for prospects to hone their ability.

After all, Martin Ødegaard really kicked on during his loan spell in the Basque region, where Alexander Isak is also flourishing.

Rangers could still sign Pablo Torre

Clearly, Torre isn’t just going where the money is.

It seems as if he wants to find the right club for the sake of his career, so Rangers could still have a chance to sign him if they can be convincing.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst just needs to show the Spain Under-19 international that Ibrox is a good place for young talents.

The Dutchman can point to the development of Nathan Patterson as one example, a prospect who has just been sold to Everton for £16m.

Rangers have also done a fine job with Ryan Kent, as well as Ianis Hagi.

The Gers can also offer Torre the chance to play European football.

In our view, the Scottish champions certainly aren’t out of the race yet, despite La Razon‘s belief that Real Sociedad are favourites.

Keep an eye on this saga, as Van Bronckhorst has some money to spend after the sale of Patterson.
