Rangers only landed Stuart Taylor last week – but he could already be about to leave Ibrox.

According to The Mirror, new Stoke City boss Paul Lambert wants to take Stuart Taylor to the bet365 Stadium with him – just days after he joined Rangers.

The Potters sacked manager Mark Hughes last week, and after links to Quique Sanchez Flores and Martin O’Neill, they eventually landed their new manager on Monday morning.

Stoke took the surprise decision to bring in Paul Lambert as their new manager, with the Scot landing the job after losing his role as Wolverhampton Wanderers boss at the end of last season.

Formerly of Aston Villa, Lambert watched on as his new side lost 3-0 at Manchester United on Monday night, and he has plenty of work to do in order to pull his side away from the relegation zone.

That will start with assembling his coaching staff, and The Mirror report that he is seeking a reunion with Stuart Taylor as one of his first moves in the job.

Lambert and Taylor worked together at Aston Villa and Wolves, meaning a reunion may well be appealing – but it has come at an interesting and somewhat ironic time for Taylor.

A general view of Ibrox Stadium is seen ahead of the EURO 2016 Qualifier match between Scotland and Georgia at Ibrox Stadium on October 11, 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Taylor only took a new job last week, as he became a coach for Rangers, working with their development squad following Graeme Murty’s promotion to Rangers boss until the end of the season.

Now, Taylor may face a decision; whether to stay loyal to Rangers having only joined them just days ago, or whether to go and reunite with Lambert at Stoke and return to Premier League coaching.
