Herrera, who moved to Rangers during last summer’s transfer window, does not appear to feature in Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox plans.

Rangers striker Eduardo Herrera is on the brink of leaving Ibrox, according to the Scottish Sun.
The newspaper reports the Mexican is set to return to his homeland with Toluca – barely a year since he arrived at Rangers from Pumas.
However, it is unclear whether the move would be a permanent or temporary one.

Herrera has only scored twice in 24 games for Rangers and could find chances limited under new boss Steven Gerrard, who according to the Scottish Sun is confident of signing another striker, Umar Sadiq, on loan from Roma this week.
The update on Herrera’s future comes less than 24 hours after the 29-year-old posted the following message on Instagram:

His fellow countryman, Carlos Pena, returned to Mexico with Cruz Azul in January, and has since had his loan deal transferred to Necaxa until the end of the year.
Gerrard has already recruited seven new faces since taking the reins from Graeme Murty in May, with Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor, Jamie Murphy, Ovie Ejaria, Nikola Katic, Connor Goldson and Jon Flanagan each arriving at Rangers.
