The Glasgow Rangers striker has scored 13 goals in 29 games since joining Graeme Murty’s side last summer.
Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is the subject of fresh interest – this time from Fenerbahce, according to Fotospor. Should the Turkish side be successful in luring Morelos away from Ibrox, it is possible he could replace Tottenham Hotspur’s Vincent Janssen.
Rangers are said to have turned down £8 million for Morelos from Beijing Renhe earlier this month. Unlike in China, however, the Turkish transfer window is already closed meaning any move for the Gers’ top scorer would have to wait until the summer.
Fotospor reports that after the struggles of Janssen – who is on loan from Tottenham – and Roberto Soldado – a former Spurs player – Fenerbahce will target players under the age of 23, who can be seen as investments for the future.
It adds that as well as the Rangers striker, the Istanbul side have identified Gent’s Peter Olayinka from Gent and Red Star Belgrade’s Milan Pavkov as potential recruits.
Good call from Rangers?
Eyebrows were raised in some places when Rangers turned down what would have been their highest incoming transfer fee since Alan Hutton’s £9 million transfer to Tottenham in a decade ago.
Should Morelos continue his scoring rate of slightly less than a goal every two games, however, any future bids are likely to exceed even Hutton’s (then) price tag.
If only they can see out the Chinese (and perhaps Russian) transfer windows.
