Report: Rangers still keen as Nottingham Forest and Sunderland target Jordan Jones

Glasgow Rangers appear to still be interested in bringing Jordan Jones to Ibrox, but Steven Gerrard’s men face competition for his signature.

According to a report from the Daily Mail’s live transfer blog (09/06; 11:45), Rangers remain keen on signing Jordan Jones this summer, but Steven Gerrard’s men face competition from the likes of Sunderland, Norwich City and Nottingham Forest for his signature.

Jones was one of the most exciting players in the Scottish Premiership this past season. The Northern Ireland international played a key role in Kilmarnock boasting a tremendous record following Steve Clarke’s appointment, saving a couple of his inspired performances for the clashes with Rangers and Celtic.

The Mail (09/06; 11:45) reports that the Gers are monitoring Jones’ situation at Rugby Park, but new Sunderland boss Jack Ross is seriously interested following his move from St Mirren, while Aitor Karanka is reportedly keen to bring him to the City Ground.

The Mail adds that Jones could cost around £600,000 as he heads into the final year of his contract with Killie. That kind of figure could arguably prove to be a real bargain for any of the three clubs if the wide-man is capable of realising his potential in the coming years.

Rangers have already strengthened their wide options this summer with Jamie Murphy joining on a permanent basis, while Scott Arfield is also capable of being deployed on the wing if required.

Forest could arguably do with adding to their cluster of wingers during the summer, especially with the Daily Record recently reporting that former Gers ace Barrie McKay is now on the verge of moving to Olympiakos.

Sunderland meanwhile, need to rebuild once again after suffering back to back relegations. Jones would be one of the most exciting additions the Black Cats could make if they managed to beat Rangers and Forest to his signature.
