Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard reportedly wants Claudio Marchisio at Ibrox.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
It has been reported that Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and Brazilian club Flamengo are still in talks for the midfielder.
The report has also claimed that the Italy international has been negotiating with AS Monaco personally.
The 33-year-old is a free agent at the moment, having left Russian Premier League club Zenit Saint Petersburg.
Twist
This latest report in RMC does come as a twist, as it seems that Rangers still have a chance of landing the seven-time Serie A champions.
According to an earlier report in Calciomercato.com, Marchisio has turned down an approach from Rangers, but it seems that the Gers are not giving up.
Good signing for Rangers?
Although Rangers are well stocked in the midfield department, a player of Marchisio’s ability and calibre will enhance the Gers’ quality in the middle of the park.
With his vast experience in Europe, Marchisio will also enable Rangers to make a big impact in the Europa League.
