Mark Warburton is close to bringing the Milton Keynes Dons right-back to Ibrox.
Hodson worked alongside Warburton at Watford
Rangers are set to make Milton Keynes Dons right-back Lee Hodson their eighth summer signing, the Scottish Daily Mail reports (via BBC Sport Gossip Column).
Hodson’s Euro 2016 participation ended with Northern Ireland’s defeat to Wales on Saturday and the 24-year-old’s focus will now switch to moving clubs it seems.
The English-born defender, who spent the second half of last season on loan to Rangers’ Premiership rivals Kilmarnock, is another to have worked with Light Blues boss Mark Warburton at both Watford and Brentford.
Waburton is fond of reunions
An MK Dons player since 2013, Hodson is set to enter the final year of his contract in Buckinghamshire.
However, he made only eight appearances for his parent club last term and Karl Robinson’s side look set to cash in.
If Hodson’s move to Rangers goes ahead, he’ll follow Accrington duo Josh Windass and Matt Crooks, former Premier League midfielders Jordan Rossiter, Nico Kranjcar and Joey Barton, and veteran pair Clint Hill and Matt Gilks to Ibrox.
Gilks became signing number 7 last week
Warburton has previously admitted a desire to add another centre-half and striker to his ranks, and Hodson’s ex-Vicarage Road teammate Adrian Mariappa linked with the former vacancy (Daily Record).
Mariappa is another ex-Hornet tipped follow Harry Forrester and Rob Kiernan to Ibrox
