Rangers have already completed two January deals under Graeme Murty.
Rangers are reportedly set for a transfer battle if they are indeed looking to land Hamilton midfielder Greg Docherty, as STV claim Championship side Cardiff City are now interested.
Murty has already lured Jamie Murphy to Ibrox from Premier League side Brighton, while midfielder Sean Goss has joined on loan until the end of the season from Championship side QPR.
But it does not appear to have deterred Murty from adding more players to his Rangers side after being given the job until the end of the season by the Gers’ hierarchy.
Creative midfielder Docherty remains on a lost of midfielders admired by Murty, after having a hand in nine goals this season from just 21 Scottish Premiership outings.
Scoring three himself against St. Johnstone, Ross County and Motherwell, the assist machine has created six strikes from deep as Murty looks to add an inventive midfielder to his squad with Carlos Pena set to leave.
The Daily Record claim the 27-year-old powerhouse is nearing a return to Mexico, which will see him join Pedro Caixinha’s Cruz Azul on loan until the end of the season – with the Mexican giants willing to pay all of his £20,000-a-week wages.
Without Pena leaving a gap in the advanced midfielder role, Docherty could be viewed my Murty as the perfect signing with age on his side, but he may now lose the chance to nab his signature with Neil Warnock’s Cardiff said to be keen.
