Rangers appointed Steven Gerrard as their new manager earlier today.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool coach Michael Beale will be leaving the club this summer in order to reunite with Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
After days of speculation, Rangers confirmed the appointment of Gerrard earlier today, landing him on a three-year deal after a spell as Liverpool’s Under-18 coach.
Gerrard, 37, is a rookie manager who will need all the help he can get to succeed in the Ibrox hot seat, and he has already landed former Scotland ace Gary McAllister as his assistant.
Now, the Liverpool Echo report that Gerrard has landed another appointment, as Liverpool coach Michael Beale will be reuniting with Gerrard at Ibrox this summer.
Beale was in charge of Liverpool’s Under-23 side before surprisingly heading to Brazil become Sao Paulo’s assistant manager, but returned to Liverpool in September 2017 to serve as their head of coaching for the foundation phase.
Beale was even targeted by Oxford United for their managerial role earlier this year, but now heads to Ibrox in order to reunite Gerrard in what appears to be a coup for Rangers.
A highly-regarded coach, and one known for developing players, Beale should play a key role in this new era for Rangers, and fans may well be pleased to see another arrival in the pipeline.
