Rangers have balked at the £4.5 million price-tag put on the head of transfer target Terem Moffi by Belgian outfit KV Kortrijk, according to Het Laaste Nieuws.
While it seems that Alfredo Morelos is set for one more year of clinical finishing at Ibrox, that has not stopped the Glasgow giants from attempting to strengthen a front line which has become increasingly reliant on their Colombian talisman.
The average Gers fanatic didn’t know Morelos from Adam when he arrived at Ibrox from HLJ Helsinki three years ago.
And Moffi, a 21-year-old who was plying his trade in Lithuania a few months ago, would burst on to the Scottish scene in very similar circumstances.
While Rangers paid a bargain £1 million for arguably the most clinical finisher in Scottish football, any hopes that Moffi could be snapped up for another cut-price fee have gone up in smoke.
HLN claims that Kortrijk are demanding £4.5 million for a striker they signed for just £300,000 six months ago.
For those of you who come out in hives at the prospect of even the most basic mathematics, that means Kortrijk are hoping to make a £4.2 million profit just seven games into Moffi’s Jupiler League career.
The Nigerian scored four times in those seven matches, taking his 2019/20 tally to ten in 16 in all competitions.
But money does not grow on trees at Ibrox. And that £4.5 million fee appears to have scuppered any hopes Moffi had of ensuring his time at Kortrijk was merely a flying visit.
