According to Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti, Rangers rejected an offer of €9million (£8million) from Leeds United for Borna Barisic earlier this summer.
The report notes that Leeds now want Dinamo Zagreb defender Josko Gvardiol, and claim that Marcelo Bielsa clearly loves Croatian players because he also wanted Barisic.
Leeds allegedly offered Rangers £8million for Barisic earlier this summer, but Rangers said no – and Leeds seemingly didn’t come back.
Whether they still look towards Barisic later in the transfer window remains to be seen, but Rangers definitely won’t want to lose him.
The left back endured a tricky first season at Rangers having signed from Osijek in the summer of 2018, but was outstanding last term.
Barisic racked up two goals and 14 assists in all competitions last term, and is already on one goal and three assists this season.

The Croatian international is one of Rangers’ key players, and would be very difficult to replace for Steven Gerrard.
It’s no great surprise that Rangers allegedly rejected that opening bid, but with Barry Douglas potentially leaving Leeds this summer, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Leeds did come back with a new offer before the transfer window ends.
