Glasgow Rangers are trying to negotiate a deal that will see Glen Kamara head to Ibrox ahead of the summer.

Ross McCrorie of Rangers and Veton Berisha of Rapid during the UEFA Europa League match between SK Rapid Wien v Rangers at Weststadion on December 13, 2018 in Vienna, Austria.

According to a report from the Daily Record, Rangers have rejected an offer from Dundee that would see Glen Kamara move to Ibrox during the January transfer window, with Ross McCrorie heading in the opposite direction on loan.

Kamara has agreed a pre-contract deal with the Gers, but the two Scottish Premiership clubs are in discussions about a transfer that would see the midfielder join Steven Gerrard’s side this month.

A swap deal is being discussed, according to the Record, but Dundee’s attempt to land McCrorie on loan has been rejected by the Light Blues.

It appears a smart move to keep McCrorie. He was sensational in the Old Firm win against Celtic before the winter break, and Gerrard clearly rates the youngster extremely highly.

The 20-year-old certainly has the quality to make an impact during the title race, even if Kamara does arrive prematurely and gives him additional competition for a place in the side.

Meanwhile, there is no question that Gerrard has a large squad to work with right now, so it would be no surprise if the Gers have a number of alternative options that they are prepared to offer Dundee to try and get Kamara’s move across the line.
