Report: Rangers reject £9m bid from Beijing Renhe for Alfredo Morelos

Rangers have reportedly rejected another bid for Ibrox star Alfredo Morelos.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers have rejected a fourth bid from Chinese side Beijin Renhe for striker Alfredo Morelos, this time worth £9million – and two South American clubs have joined the race.

Rangers swooped to land Morelos from HJK Helsinki over the summer, with former manager Pedro Caixinha taking a punt on the Colombian after his 46 goals in 62 games in Finland – and he has starred at Ibrox with 15 goals in 30 games in all competitions.

The 21-year-old has quickly become a sensation in Glasgow, but his exploits have triggered major interest, with Chinese side Beijing Renhe already failing with three bids for the striker.

Now, it’s claimed that a new bid of £9million has been submitted by Beijing Renhe, and they have met the same reaction from Rangers; Morelos isn’t for sale until the end of the season, whilst two South American clubs have been in contact about a deal over the last 48 hours.

Eight figures would get tempting

Rangers have done well to stand firm on Morelos’ future, refusing to cash in for a huge profit on a player who cost them just £1million a matter of months ago – but the money is becoming serious now.

Beijing Renhe seemingly aren’t giving up ahead of the Chinese transfer deadline on February 28^th, and the next step from £9million would be into an eight-figure bid, offering Rangers at least ten times what they paid for Morelos.

That would really start to be tempting for Rangers, as the Gers could reinvest such a huge fee in new signings over the summer, improving their squad as they look to challenge Celtic.

Rangers are right in their plan to hold out until the summer, but if a Chinese or South American club offer eight figures for the striker, it may give Dave King and co plenty to think about.
