George Edmundson is reportedly keen to join Scottish Premiership giants Rangers but the Oldham Athletic defender might be Pompey bound instead.

Rangers are reluctant to increase their £500,000 bid for Oldham Athletic defender George Edmundson and now look set to miss out to Portsmouth, according to the Daily Record.
The 21-year-old centre-back is a man in demand right now after an impressive season in League Two with The Latics.
A Rangers side who will bid farewell to Gareth McAuley and Joe Worrall this month identified Edmundson as one of their number one transfer targets and The Record claims that they have made two bids, the most recent standing at £500,000 plus add-ons.
The Gers are standing firm on that offer, however – though they could be about to trip over their own feet.

The Record adds that Portsmouth have now seen a £600,000 bid accepted by Oldham with the Fratton Park club now jumping to the front of the queue for the 6ft 3ins powerhouse.
Considering that Rangers are just £100,000 short of matching Pompey’s offer, it would be nothing short of baffling if they failed to make an enhanced, third bid for Edmundson – especially with The Record claiming that he prefers a move to Scotland.
