Rangers outcast Carlos Pena looks set to leave Ibrox.

According to Vanguardia in Mexico, Rangers are set to terminate the contract of midfielder Carlos Pena and end his time at Ibrox.
The Gers swooped to land Pena from Guadalajara in the summer of 2017, with Pedro Caixinha desperate to sign the 28-year-old.
Caixinha knew all about Pena from his time in Mexico, and convinced Rangers to part with £2.2million for the midfielder, feeling that he would provide goals from the middle of the park.
Pena’s record of five goals in 14 games doesn’t particularly look bad; far from it in fact. And yet the Mexican has been a complete flop, enduring fitness and off-field problems throughout his time at Ibrox.
Pena was cast aside by Steven Gerrard last summer, and sent on loan to Necaxa, where he played just nine games and failed to register a goal or assist as his struggles continued.
Necaxa sent Pena back to Ibrox, and Vanguardia report that Rangers will now terminate Pena’s contract in order to get him off the books once and for all.

It’s stated that Rangers aren’t even bothered about getting any of their money back at this point, and are just prepared to cut their losses and move on.
With no future at Ibrox, this seems like the most sensible thing to do, allowing Pena to move and attempt to salvage his career elsewhere whilst freeing up money in the Rangers wage bill.
