Rangers are reportedly interested in appointing Steve McClaren as their new manager.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are planning to hold talks with Steve McClaren this week over a surprise move to become their manager.
The Gers decided to sack manager Pedro Caixinha after a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock last month, which came just days after losing their Scottish League Cup semi-final clash with Motherwell.

After seven months in the job, Caixinha was relieved of his duties, and caretaker boss Graeme Murty has kicked off his second reign of 2017 with two wins, beating Hearts 3-1 and Partick Thistle 3-0.
However, Rangers may look for an external appointment to replace Caixinha, and The Scottish Sun now report that talks with Steve McClaren will take place this week.
The Times suggested on Saturday that Rangers’ Director of Football Mark Allen has identified McClaren as his top choice for the job, and there are now plans to discuss the job with McClaren this week.

McClaren, 56, had a short and disastrous spell as England boss after impressing with Middlesbrough, and has since managed the likes of Twente, Wolfsburg, Nottingham Forest, Derby County and Newcastle United.
Now in Israel with Maccabi Tel Aviv as a coaching consultant to manager Jordi Cruyff, McClaren would be free to leave if approached for another job, and he will now speak to Rangers.
His patchy managerial record may not inspire fans, but he is a veteran head who may be able to steady the ship, with his coaching skills usually praised over the course of his career.
