Rangers midfielder Jason Holt is set to leave Ibrox this summer.

Erik Sviatchenko of Celtic vies with Jason Holt of Rangers during the Rangers v Celtic Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match at Ibrox Stadium on December 31, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers midfielder Jason Holt is set to leave the club and reunite with his former Ibrox boss Mark Warburton.

Holt, 26, spent last season on loan at Fleetwood Town, scoring twice in 36 outings before injury meant he had to return to Ibrox in March.

The Scot finds himself way down the pecking order at Ibrox, and Steven Gerrard has made it clear that he has no future with the club having left him in Glasgow rather than taking him to Portugal for their pre-season tour.

Holt has now essentially been told to find a new club, and it may not take him long, as ex-Rangers boss Warburton is moving to reunite with him at QPR.

Warburton has already reunited with three players he coached at Rangers; goalkeeper Liam Kelly has arrived from Livingston, whilst left back Lee Wallace has also joined after being released by Rangers.

Holt looks set to join those two, and he’ll be hoping for a return to the form of his season under Warburton, in which he hit 12 goals in 45 games from midfield.

Rangers probably won’t get a huge fee out of QPR, but they will get Holt off the books for good, four years since he arrived at Ibrox on a free transfer.

The biggest question surrounding the move will be whether Holt can deal with the Championship at 5ft 6in tall, but he’ll certainly fit in which Warburton’s possession style at least.
