Glasgow Rangers reportedly met with Alexander Kacaniklic in January, but he decided against a move to Ibrox.

With deals for the likes of Jermain Defoe and Glen Kamara getting done, Steven Gerrard may not have too many complaints about Rangers’s business during the January transfer window.
The Gers made five signings during the month, while Jordan Jones agreed to move to Ibrox ahead of his contract expiring at the end of the season.
But it appears that Gerrard was hoping to make it six additions during the month as a report from Swedish outlet FotbollDirekt has suggested that Alexander Kacaniklic was on the club’s radar.
FotbollDirekt reports that the Sweden international even travelled to Glasgow to meet with Rangers before he ultimately joined Hammarby in his home country on a free transfer last month.

Kacaniklic is no stranger to the British game. He spent three years alongside Gerrard on Liverpool’s books, but left the Reds without making a senior appearance. He subsequently played for Fulham, Watford and Burnley before being released by the Cottagers in 2016. He has also collected 19 caps for Sweden.
Rangers are not exactly short of options out wide. But Kacaniklic could have been an incredibly exciting signing, especially on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old is far from finished and would have complemented the likes of Ryan Kent and Daniel Candeias, who have established themselves as the Gers’ first choice wide-men during Gerrard’s tenure.
