Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wants to bring Joseph Okumu to Ibrox if Filip Helander leaves the Gers, according to Aftonbladet.se.
It has been reported that Aston Villa and Leicester City are interested in signing 27-year-old Sweden international central defender Helander in the summer of 2021.
If the Gers lose Helander, then they will make a move for 23-year-old Kenya international defender Okumu from Elfsborg, according to the report.
Risky move?
Okumu is a young and talented defender who has the quality to play for a bigger league and could be a success at Rangers.
However, it would still be a risk for the Gers to sell Helander and bringing in a younger defender.
Helander has shown what he is capable of Rangers and is a key figure in the team.

The Sweden international has played a big role in Gerrard’s team winning the Scottish Premiership and reaching the Europa League Round of 16 stage this season.
According to WhoScored, the Sweden international central defender has scored one goal in 21 Scottish Premiership matches and scored one goal in four Europa League games for the Gers this season.
