Third time lucky for Rangers? Pedro Caixinha will hope so as their attempts to bring Graham Dorrans back to Scotland strays into saga territory.
The Daily Mail claimed earlier this month that Norwich City had rejected a second bid of £1 million for the Scotland international. They were demanding that Rangers pay another £500,000, knowing that Caixinha was seemingly willing to pull out all the stops to make the 30-year-old the lynchpin of his new look midfield.
And the Daily Record now adds that Rangers have indeed made a third bid for Dorrans – though whether it meets Norwich’s £1.5 million asking price remains to be seen.
The former West Brom midfielder only signed a three year contract extension at Carrow Road last year but he appears to be another casualty of the major overhaul presided over by new sporting director Stuart Webber.
The man whose genius moves in the transfer market inspired Huddersfield Town to the Premier League for the first time has already allowed experienced, long-serving players like Michael Turner and John Ruddy to depart. And Dorrans looks set to be the next in line, despite scoring six goals from midfield last season.
The Daily Mail claims that Dorrans would jump at the chance of signing for Rangers this summer. He is a boyhood fan after all.
Therefore, he will be hoping that Rangers stump up the fee required to make him one of their most expensive signings in recent years.
