Rangers prepare to have all eventualities covered.
General view of Ibrox – Rangers
Rangers’ search for a director of football has already faced a couple of setbacks, with the club still searching for the right candidate.
The club originally hoped to have a figurehead in place before appointing a manager, but decided they could not wait to bring in Pedro Caixinha as boss after more than a fortnight with neither in place.
Caixinha is providing feedback and advice on the structure and type of candidate he hopes to work with, and Rangers are optimistic they will get their man by the summer.
Despite their plans, Rangers have their bases covered, the Glasgow Evening Times report, making a contingency plan for the summer in case they do not have a director of football in place.

The director of football would typically oversee recruitment, but Rangers insist their spending plans will not be delayed if they cannot get their candidate over the line in time.
Managing director Stewart Robertson said: “Very rarely does life go in a straight line.
“We will make contingency plans behind this to make sure that recruitment still happens over the summer.”
While not offering specifics, previous comments from chairman Dave King to the club website suggest Caixinha will simply be handed free reign to make the signings he wants.
That might not be a bad move, Caixinha’s eye for a player is yet to be determined. He is already surely compiling a list of targets already, who he will recommend to the director of football, or simply go out and bid for if given permission to do so.
