Rangers have reportedly made a bid to bring Jake Cooper to Ibrox.
According to the Daily Record, Rangers have made a bid of £3million for Millwall defender Jake Cooper as they chase a third centre back signing this summer.
The Gers have been busy in the transfer window this summer, and new manager Steven Gerrard has overseen the capture of two centre backs already in Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic, with an outlay of nearly £5million on those two players.
Now, Rangers are back in the market for more central defensive options, and have launched a £3million bid for Millwall centre back Jake Cooper in order to give Gerrard another defender to pick from, according to the Daily Record.
Cooper, 23, came up through the ranks with Reading and whilst he impressed in the 2015-16 season, he found himself out of favour under Jaap Stam and ended up heading to Millwall on loan.
The 6ft 4in defender starred at The New Den and earned a permanent move last summer, and he featured prominently under Neil Harris last season, scoring four times in 42 appearances.
A former England Under-20 international, Cooper has huge potential and could form a strong partnership with Goldson, which would be beneficial whilst Rangers ease Katic into Scottish football.
With Bruno Alves set for Parma, David Bates gone to Hamburg, Russell Martin back with Norwich City and Fabio Cardoso out of favour, defensive reinforcements had to be a priority for Rangers – and if they can seal a £3million move for Cooper, they will have certainly put the money in to solving their defensive problems.
