Jason Cummings remains on loan at Ibrox, but Rangers are yet to confirm whether or not he will move permanently.
The 22-year-old joined Graeme Murty’s side in the January transfer window as one of four loanees, along with QPR midfielder Sean Goss, Norwich City defender Russell Martin and Brighton winger Jamie Murphy.
However, of the four loan players, he has been afforded the least game time with Alfredo Morelos remaining first choice at Ibrox as he sits at the top of the Rangers goalscoring charts.
It has seen two-time Scotland international Cummings feature just 13 times, eight of which have been substitute appearances for the Light Blues. He has scored five goals, but four have come in the Scottish Cup against lesser opposition.
The Daily Record claim Rangers will have to splash £1million on Cummings to land him permanently, but a long-term move is doubtful as he remains second-choice to Morelos.
A failure to move to Rangers beyond the end of the season could come as a double whammy to Cummings, though, as the Nottingham Post claim the Scottish striker will struggle to win back his place.
It is believed Aitor Karanka is set to bring in a whole host of new attackers at the City Ground, meaning Cummings will drop down the pecking order. If he does not move to Rangers, Cummings could be moving elsewhere.
