Rangers won’t be bringing Vassilis Lambropoulos to Ibrox after all.

Rangers fans maybe won’t know too much about defender Vassilis Lambropoulos, but he’s been linked with a move to Ibrox for months now.
The Greek international has impressed since joining AEK from Panionios in 2014, picking up his two international caps in the process.
However, the 29-year-old was embroiled in a contract spat last season, as AEK refused to play him until he signed a new deal – and the centre back simply left his contract run out this summer.
That’s where Rangers come into the picture. Links first emerged back in December, as SDNA in Greece reported that Steven Gerrard wanted Lambropoulos at Ibrox.
No January move materialised, and when Rangers didn’t land him on a pre-contract agreement either, that seemed to be the end of the matter.
However, the Daily Record last month brought his name back up, suggesting that a move could still be looked at when his contract expired – but he won’t be heading to Ibrox after being linked for over six months.

That’s because DXT in Spain report that Lambropoulos has signed for Deportivo La Coruna in Spain’s second tier, strengthening their back line with loanees Pablo Mari and Domingos Duarte leaving.
You can now cross Lambropoulos off the list of potential Rangers signings, but Rangers do still need an experienced defender to replace Gareth McAuley, and whilst it won’t be Lambropoulos arriving, don’t be surprised if a defender of similar experience does sign.
