Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have started the season in brilliant fashion. The Gers are yet to lose a game this term and, if things go their way, they will put an end to Celtic’s decade-long dominance in Scotland.

Despite the end of the transfer window, Rangers have been linked with a move for the free agent. talkSPORT claimed last month that Gerrard’s side are genuinely interested in signing Jack Wilshere.

The Englishman has been without a club since leaving West Ham United last month. A move to Scotland has been tipped by many as a brilliant idea, but a decision regarding his future is yet to be made.

Italian outlet Serie B News have claimed this week that Chievo Verona were interested in signing Wilshere. The report reveals that the second-tier outfit even offered a contract to the former Arsenal star, but he turned them down.

Wilshere only wants to join a top-flight club. The Englishman is reportedly open to a move to Italy, but only to a team in Serie A. Sadly for him, there have been no offers from the Italian top-flight yet.

Boost for Rangers?

If Steven Gerrard really is interested, there is no better time than now for Rangers to make a move for him. Wilshere, if he can stay fit, is a fantastic footballer, and his vision and quality from the middle of the park could help the Gers end their long wait for the title.

However, Rangers already have a lot of numbers in midfield. Ryan Jack, Steven Davis, Joe Aribo, Ianis Hagi and summer arrival Bongani Zungu give Gerrard all the options he needs, but a move for Wilshere might still be too hard to turn down.
