Rangers may miss out on bringing Liam Smith to Ibrox.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers may miss out on Kilmarnock’s Liam Smith as Manchester City have opened talks to sign him.
The Gers identified Smith as a target earlier this year, and have been looking to bring the teenager to Ibrox having been impressed with his potential.
Smith, 16, is a young striker who has one goal in four Scotland Under-16 caps, and he has been touted for a bright future.
Rangers may now miss out though, as it’s claimed that Manchester City are in talks about a deal to add him to their youth ranks – and it wouldn’t just be the Gers missing out.
It’s noted that Liverpool also want Smith, but City – their Premier League title rivals – are working hard to swoop in and make sure he heads to the Etihad Stadium, not Anfield or Ibrox.

Kilmarnock would allegedly be entitled to €200,000 in compensation according to FIFA rules, which is just around £180,000; short change to the Premier League pair.
Rangers will be gutted to miss out if that proves to be the case, especially as they may offer a clearer pathway to first-team football than the English pair.
