Glasgow Rangers have potentially received a boost in their attempts to bring Kieran Dowell to Ibrox on loan.

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, Rangers’ hopes of signing Kieran Dowell in January may have received a boost as the attacking midfielder is expected to make a loan move.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Rangers are keen to sign Dowell for the second-half of the Scottish Premiership season as Steven Gerrard looks to capitalise on their current position in the table.

The 21-year-old has barely featured for the Toffees this season, and has not appeared at all in the Premier League. And it appears that Everton may be about to offer Rangers some encouragement over a potential deal.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Everton are set to allow Dowell to leave on loan when the window opens next move. It remains to be seen whether they give the green light to a potential Rangers move.

It could be a fantastic deal for the youngster. Rangers will be on the front foot in most of the games they play, and that could really present someone of Dowell’s quality with the chance to take centre-stage and make a devastating impact.

He scored nine goals on loan at Nottingham Forest last year, and a similar return if he makes a move to Ibrox would be incredibly difficult for Marco Silva to ignore heading into next season.
