Rangers are reportedly hoping to bring Adam Armstrong to Ibrox this month.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers want to take Newcastle United’s young striker Adam Armstrong on loan following Martyn Waghorn’s injury.
The Gers have added a host of new signings this summer, but only one forward has arrived, with youngster Joe Dodoo signing from Leicester City.

Even after signing Dodoo, Rangers are in the market for a new striker, and their need for another goalscorer has been exacerbated by the injury Martyn Waghorn suffered against Hamilton Academical on Saturday.
Waghorn will find out the extent of his hamstring injury after a scan later today, but whether it’s a short or long term absence, manager Mark Warburton will want a striker – and The Scottish Sun report that Warburton has turned his attention to Newcastle youngster Adam Armstrong.
It’s claimed that Rangers want a loan deal for Armstrong, and are hoping that Magpies manager Rafael Benitez will do a favour for Frank McParland. Rangers’ head of recruitment worked alongside Benitez at Liverpool, and their relationship could aid Rangers’ pursuit of Armstrong.
The 19-year-old striker has come up through the ranks at Newcastle, and impressed on loan with Coventry City last season, where he scored a superb 20 goals in 40 games before returning to St. James’ Park.

Armstrong remains behind the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle in the pecking order up front at Newcastle, and manager Benitez may prefer to loan him out again to give him playing time.
Clubs in England are believed to be keen, but Rangers will use McParland to try and win the race for Armstrong’s signature – and based on his displays for Coventry last season, he could be a smart addition for Rangers.
