As per reports in Belgium relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are interested in signing Rangers and Leeds target Nicolas Raskin on a free transfer.

The Standard Liege midfielder looks set to leave his boyhood club, with manager Deila confirming that he would no longer play or train anymore.

The £5 million-rated star (via DH Net) has caught the attention of Rangers, as per a report by Voetbal Niuews.

However, the Belgian outlet has also claimed that Raskin would prefer a switch to Jesse Marsch’s Leeds side.

Described as a “monstrous” midfielder who is also a “leader” by Deila, it seems as if the 21-year-old is generating interest amongst several European sides.

While it seemed as if a tug-of-war between Rangers and Leeds for Raskin’s signature, a new club has joined the race to sign him.

Barcelona now enter race to sign Nicolas Raskin

Mundo Deportivo have relayed reports in Belgium that claim that Barcelona now aim to sign Nicolas Raskin in 2023.

With free signings such as Memphis Depay and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang being a priority for the club recently, it seems to be that they wish to do the same in the case of the gifted Belgian.

Xavi’s side have been speculated with bringing in several defensive midfielders, as Sergio Busquets may be out of the door next season.

While names such as N’Golo Kante and Martin Zubimendi have been touted, it seems as if the Spanish giants are now eyeing the arrival of the Rangers and Leeds target.

Bad news for Rangers and Leeds

While Rangers and Leeds would be promising destinations for any player, Barcelona are on a completely different level.

Being one of the biggest clubs in the world while topping La Liga this season, Nicolas Raskin would be keen to join the Catalan giants.

Capable of functioning as both a defensive midfielder as well as a No.8, the opportunity to learn his craft under one of the game’s greatest-ever midfielders in Xavi would naturally tempt the young Raskin to head to Spain.
