Rangers are reportedly keen to lure defender Andrew Considine to Ibrox.

According to the Sunday Post, Rangers are interested in signing Aberdeen defender Andrew Considine, with his contract set to expire this coming summer.

The Gers had defensive problems last season, and manager Mark Warburton moved to try and solve those issues by snapping up Philippe Senderos and Clint Hill over the summer.

The two veteran defenders have given Warburton experience in his back four, but given that both players are only contracted until the end of the season, there’s a chance that neither player will be at Ibrox next term.

Defensive reinforcements should still on Warburton’s agenda, and the Sunday Post report that the Gers are lining up a move to land Aberdeen centre back Andrew Considine, which could take place either this month or in the summer.

Considine, 29, was born in Aberdeen and has come up through the ranks with the Dons, racking up nearly 400 appearances for the club, scoring 21 goals.

The defender, who can play at centre back or left back, is a strong player with great experience in Scottish football, is out of contract at the end of the season, which is allegedly tempting Rangers into a move.

It’s stated that, with Aberdeen concerned about losing him for nothing this coming summer, the Dons could cash in this month before he walks away for free, and Rangers are keen to raid their rivals for the veteran defender.

The report adds that Warburton is also keen on two more Aberdeen players, with midfielder Ryan Jack and winger Niall McGinn – both of whom are also out of contract at the end of the season – admired by the Rangers boss.
