Rangers are reportedly adamant that Mark Warburton is staying at Ibrox.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers have issued a hands-off warning to The FA over any possible pursuit of manager Mark Warburton for the Under-21 job.

Warburton, 54, not only won the Scottish Championship title last season to guide Rangers back to the top flight of Scottish football, but also took the Gers to last season’s Scottish Cup final.

However, the ex-Brentford boss has come in for stern criticism this season after some less than convincing performances, but the last three results – wins over Aberdeen, Hearts and Hamilton – have eased the pressure on him.

Warburton’s work over the last 18 months at Ibrox has largely been impressive, and it now seems that the Englishman is a name in contention for the England Under-21 job after Gareth Southgate became England’s permanent boss.

However, The Scottish Sun report that Rangers have issued a hands-off warning to The FA, as they are adamant that Warburton is staying at Ibrox.

It’s stated that Warburton has admirers in The FA due to his extensive history of working with young players, but the Rangers boss hasn’t applied to take the job.

Instead, The FA would have to approach Warburton by the time they start the interviewing process on January 13th, and no such move has taken place.

That means that Warburton will almost certainly be staying at Ibrox, and whilst some Rangers fans may have wanted him to go earlier in the season, recent form means that supporters may now be glad to see him stay.
