Rangers are interested in signing Heart of Midlothian central defender John Souttar in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Rangers director of football Mark Allen has identified the 22-year-old centre-back as a top signing for the Ibrox club this summer.

It has also been claimed that the Gers will watch the youngster in action for Hearts against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup this afternoon.

Good signing for Rangers?

Souttar is a very good and promising young centre-back who has done well during his time at Hearts so far.

The Scotland international started his professional club football career at Dundee United before joining Hearts in 2016.

Rangers could do with a central defender in the summer transfer window, as Joe Worrall is only on loan from Nottingham Forest in the Championship in England until the end of the season.

Souttar is only 22 years of age at the moment, which means that he will develop and progress further in the coming years.
