Rangers are reportedly hoping to bring Youssouf Mulumbu to Ibrox.

According to the Daily Mail, Celtic and Rangers are both interested in snapping up Kilmarnock midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu at the end of the season.

Mulumbu, 31, made his name in the Premier League with Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion, but was a free agent after his Norwich deal ended last summer.

The DR Congo star’s former West Brom boss Steve Clarke completed a major coup by signing Mulumbu for Kilmarnock in November, penning a deal until the end of the season.

So far, the former Paris Saint-Germain youngster has enjoyed a dream spell at Rugby Park, scoring once in 14 games whilst contributing a series of excellent performances in the Killie midfield.

With his contract running out this summer though, Kilmarnock appear resigned to losing Mulumbu for free, and the Daily Mail report that both Celtic and Rangers are interested in keeping him in Scotland this summer.

Aberdeen and Hibernian are also thought to be keen, but the Old Firm duo may be confident of leading the race for the midfielder’s signature as he considers his next move.

A move to Bordeaux fell through in January, but having settled in Scotland, Celtic and Rangers are the two most appealing options if Mulumbu doesn’t want to up sticks again, though first-team football may be a little easier to come by at Ibrox than it would at Celtic Park.
