According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers winger Jake Hastie could return to former club Motherwell after talks were initiated between the clubs.
It’s claimed that Motherwell hope to lure Hastie back to Fir Park, just a year since he left the club in order to join Rangers at the end of his contract.
However, an unnamed club in England want to sign Hastie too, meaning Motherwell face a battle to re-sign their former winger on loan this summer.
Steven Gerrard has allegedly told Hastie that he is free to go out on loan, with Stephen Robinson now pushing to bring him back to the club.
Hastie, 22, starred for Motherwell in the second half of last season, racking up six goals and one assist in 12 Scottish Premiership games, earning his move to Rangers.
However, it quickly became clear that Hastie wouldn’t feature much at Ibrox. He was subsequently loaned out to Rotherham United, where he notched three goals and one assist in 16 games before being recalled.
Bizarrely, Hastie didn’t feature at all for Rangers after being recalled. Gerrard seemingly doesn’t think he is ready to play for Rangers, so another loan move is on the cards.
Heading back to Motherwell would at least give the talented wide man familiar surroundings to play in, but this rival offer from England poses a threat to Robinson’s bid.
