Ibrox side Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is said to be keen on Aaron Hickey, but he could lose out in the race.

Aaron Hickey of Hearts holds off Karamoko Dembele of Celtic during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Hearts at Celtic Park on May 19, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Daily Star suggest that Glasgow Rangers could face losing on Aaron Hickey to Manchester City.

Rangers have been heavily linked with Hearts defender Hickey in recent times by the Scottish Sun.

But it seems that Steven Gerrard’s side are facing fierce competition for the 17-year-old centre-back.

Hickey has impressed in Hearts’ first-team so far this season, despite his tender years, with a number of clubs now looking to take him from the Jambos.

Rangers are among the admirers, but with City interested they could face losing out.

City have the financial power to blow Rangers out of the water in the race for the teenager.

However, Gerrard will hope the increased prospect of first-team football at Ibrox may be enough to persuade him to stay in Scotland.
