Rangers could complete the loan signing of Umar Sadiq within 24 hours, report The Scottish Sun.

Manager Steven Gerrard is claimed to be a big fan of the forward and wants to make him his eighth Rangers signing.

Sadiq is reportedly set to join the Gers on a season long loan from the Italian giants.

The forward is a former Nigeria under-23 international who has recently had loan spells with Bologna, Torino, and in Holland with NAC Breda.

Sadiq would be the first striker signed by Gerrard’s Rangers, who has added goalkeepers, defenders and midfielders so far in a mixture of permanent and loan moves.

Rangers play their first Europa League qualifier on July 12, and they will be looking to avoid the embarrassing exit they suffered at the same stage a year ago under Pedro Caixinha.

Rangers’ interest in Sadiq was first reported a fortnight ago and talks appear to have been progressing strongly.
