Report: Rangers have verbally agreed severance package with ex-Ibrox boss Pedro Caixinha

Rangers sacked Caixinha last week after seven months at Ibrox.

Rangers verbally agreed a severance package with sacked Ibrox boss Pedro Caixinha on Tuesday, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Daily Record ran quotes from Caixinha’s agent, Nuno Batista, earlier that day, in which he claimed a deal had yet to be struck with Rangers.

Caixinha is said to have interest from former club Santos Laguna, as well as three other Mexican sides, Guadalajara, Cruz Azul and Pumas.

However, the 46-year-old is unable to move clubs until he and Rangers have sorted their differences. And the Scottish Sun reports an agreement will be signed once Batista is free from ‘unrelated business’.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is the current favourite to succeed Caixinha at Ibrox, and will be Rangers’ next boss according to Chris Sutton.

Speaking to BT Sport on Tuesday, the former Celtic striker turned pundit said: “I think Derek McInnes. I’m hearing that Rangers have the money and look, he would be the sensible option.

“He knows Scottish football inside out, he knows Rangers football club inside out and he’s done a terrific job at Aberdeen. I think he wants the job as well.”

Asked to clarify his use of the word ‘hearing’, Sutton reiterated: “I’m saying it will be Derek McInnes.

“It is absolutely the right move. Derek McInnes is the man for the Rangers job.”
