According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers now have a four-man shortlist for the Director of Football job at Ibrox following Ross Wilson’s decision to reject the post.

The Gers required a major restructure last month, as manager Mark Warburton left the club, as did assistant manager David Weir and recruitment chief Frank McParland.

Rangers swooped to land their new manager on Saturday as Pedro Caixinha left Al-Gharafa to take the Ibrox job, but the club still have work to do.

Caixinha needs an assistant, whilst the club are searching for a Director of Football to replace McParland, but in a greater capacity.

Earlier this month, BBC Sport reported that Southampton’s Director of Scouting Ross Wilson had rejected the job at Ibrox, with the 34-year-old instead choosing to remain with the Premier League club.

Now, as reported by The Scottish Sun, Rangers have put together a new four-man shortlist for the position, with the club hoping to land an appointment sooner rather than later.

Paul Mitchell, who left his position as Head of Recruitment at Tottenham earlier this month, is a name that has been strongly touted for the position at Ibrox, and his free status could be appealing to the Gers.

Chairman Dave King and Managing Director Stewart Robertson will no doubt have other irons in the fire though, and having landed Caixinha, the next big step for Rangers is to bring in their Director of Football.
