The summer signing of Allan McGregor has pushed Alnwick down the pecking order at Rangers.

Alwnick, 25, has remained on the substitutes’ bench for Rangers opening five fixtures under Steven Gerrard, with Allan McGregor considered the club’s first choice and proving his worth with some fantastic saves already.
The club also have Wes Foderingham, who was Rangers’ first choice last season, though it seems that former Port Vale stopper Alnwick is considered second choice over Foderingham.
However, 6ft 1in Alwnick has only made 11 appearances for the Gers since joining the club in January 2017, conceding 17 goals and managing only three clean sheets.
Now, the England youth international is the subject of interest from Lee Johnson’s Bristol City, despite already signing Niki Maenpaa on a free from Brighton. City also boast Frank Fielding between the sticks.

However, it is said that the Robins want to sign Alwnick on loan and could indeed secure adeal this month, with the English window’s Thursday deadline only stopping clubs from completing permanent deals.
Alnwick has two years remaining on his contract at Rangers and could be tempted to leave on loan in a bid to prove to Gerrard what he is capable of.
