Rangers have reportedly failed with a bid to bring George Edmundson to Ibrox.

According to the Daily Mail, Rangers have failed with a bid for Oldham Athletic defender George Edmundson – and now need to pay more than they originally expected.
The Gers have tied up three new signings on pre-contract agreements in Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie and Steven Davis, but Steven Gerrard will be looking for more reinforcements in order to chase down Celtic.
With Joe Worrall returning to Nottingham Forest and Gareth McAuley’s contract set to expire, Rangers need to find defenders – preferably a promising young talent and an experienced veteran.
Oldham’s Edmundson appears to be the youngster Rangers want, but the Daily Mail report that their first bid for the centre back has been rejected.
It’s noted that Oldham are now thought to want more than the £450,000 they were initially demanding for Rangers, who believed they had offered a fair deal for the 21-year-old.

Oldham may now be hoping for a bidding war as three other clubs have had bids rejected for Edmundson, and it remains to be seen whether Rangers return with another bid.
With such limited experience even in England’s fourth tier, Rangers are reluctant to splash the cash on 6ft 3in defender, instead seeing him as a cheap investment, and Oldham may well price him out of a move to Ibrox as things stand.
