Rangers completed a move to lure Greg Docherty to Ibrox on Thursday.

According to The Scottish Sun, Crystal Palace launched a move to sign Greg Docherty from Hamilton Academical on Thursday, but couldn’t stop him from joining Rangers.
The Gers have been busy in this month’s transfer window, first tying up a permanent deal for loanee Declan John before adding Russell Martin, Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings on loan.
On Thursday night – just over 24 hours after beating Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox – Rangers added another signing, this time snapping up Hamilton Academical midfielder Greg Docherty.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who came up through the ranks with the Accies and racked up more than 100 appearances for the club, has now penned a four-and-a-half year deal at Ibrox.
Docherty provides another midfield option for manager Graeme Murty, and it now seems that Rangers managed to fend off Premier League competition for the Scot’s signature.
The Scottish Sun report that Crystal Palace made a move to sign Docherty on Wednesday, but were told by Hamilton that a deal had already been signed and sealed with Rangers.

It’s added that, whilst Docherty would have been interested in speaking to Palace, Rangers were always his top choice given that he grew up supporting the club.
It’s quite the coup for Rangers to beat a Premier League team to a new signing, and Murty will now be hoping that Docherty can repay Rangers’ faith in him over the coming years to leave Palace ruing leaving it so late.
