Rangers saw Alfredo Morelos pick up yet another red card on Sunday.
According to The Telegraph, Rangers fear that Alfredo Morelos’s transfer value may be decreasing after another red card on Sunday afternoon.
Morelos was supposed to be Rangers’ big hope against Old Firm rivals Celtic, having become the Gers’ star man this season with 29 goals to his name.
However, famously hot-headed Morelos allowed himself to be wound up by Celtic captain Scott Brown, and he took the bait, elbowing Brown to pick up another red card.
Remarkably, that’s his fifth red card of the season in all competitions, and when you add in another 17 yellow cards, his disciplinary record is simply unbelievable.
Almost all of those red cards are for off-the-ball incidents, as opponents know that Morelos is so easy to antagonise, so they give the Colombian every chance to get himself sent off.
Not only have Rangers fans reached a breaking point with their star striker having cost them yet again, but the club seemingly have concerns too, in light of Sunday’s dismissal.
The Telegraph claim that Rangers now fear that Morelos’s transfer value is declining because of these disciplinary issues, just weeks after handing him a new contract.
Morelos has been linked away from Ibrox, with TEAMtalk claiming Leicester City want him, but his shocking disciplinary record means it’s hard to see Rangers getting big money right now.
Clubs will either limit how much they want to spend on such a risky player, or simply not push to sign him at all, which could cost Rangers millions.
Of course, keeping a star striker for a little longer won’t exactly be a bad thing, but Morelos is Rangers’ most valuable asset – and seeing his value diminish would be an absolute nightmare.
